AYALAAN science fiction film directed by R. Ravikumar and produced by Kotapadi J. Rajesh under KJR Studios.
The film makes a rather staid start, the few customary hero and character introductions do not impress while the wait for the real deal does take its own time to arrive. Till the alien character announces its arrival the film wobbles through, though there are a few hits with the hero and his comedy gang. The alien is nicely done and is quite amusing as it manages to keep the audience’s interest vested in the film. Clichés are in abundance and they are annoying too but then the film does its bit to entertain too in phases. The action sequences are poor while the writing despite being flawed just about manages to hold itself.
Siva Karthikeyan is his usual decent self. Yogi Babu is consistent. Rakul Preet Singh has little to do. Sharad Kelkar is unimpressive while Isha Koppikar tries.
Nirav Shah’s cinematography is neat. The CGI is seamless. ARR’s background score is weak. The songs do not work; especially the intro song is badly done. Ruben’s editing is OK. Dialogues are fine and direction is decent.
AYALAAN has a lot for kids and very little fun for the adults..
