SIREN is an action thriller film written and directed by Antony Bhagyaraj, in his directorial debut. It is produced by Sujatha Vijayakumar under Home Movie Makers.
SIREN doesn’t waste much time and gets to the plot straight away. There are a few layers that keep adding to the intriguing main plot and they are well integrated too, but unfortunately as the story progresses, one feels why these digressions as they seem to make no impact on the focal point of the story. The father daughter emotional turbulence isn’t convincing. The comedy works in parts. After a while the flashbacks are annoying when the viewer is already made aware of them. But the writer loads the story with a lots of twists that are interesting but the jarring screenplay injected by the cliche, lazy writing in parts don’t necessarily compliment the well thought out plot.
Jayam Ravi is earnest. Keerthi Suresh is okay in a good role for her. Anupama is neat. Yogi Babu enlivens the proceedings. Samuthrakanni is his regular self.
Cinematography by Selva Kumar is neat. Sam CS’ s background score seems heavily influenced by GV Prakash ‘s idea of loud pieces. Songs by GVP do not make the cut. Dialogues are good. Editing by Ruben’s editing keeps it promising. Direction for a debutant is good.
SIREN makes the right noise but not loud enough !!
