BAYAMARIYA BRAMMAI is a crime thriller written and directed by Rahul Kabali. The film is produced by Rahul Kabali and Jagadish Palanisamy. This film received some attention at the Cannes festival.
The tone and the tenor of the film make it very evident in the first few minutes, as the film gradually makes its presence felt. The conversational scenes purported to get into the mind of the protagonist actually falls flat due to very laboured flaky debate and that is where the film loses its connect with the audience. Episodes thereafter despite decently crafted do not necessarily make an impression without vindication. They look and feel superficial thereby making the viewer lose connect. The only fine nuance about this gruesome mindless murder thriller is the end message that makes up for some decent realisation but again it gets muddled in the wake of an incorrigible argument.
The actors do not have a lot of screen time and it’s all divided among the actors. With each actor having a defined role and expression to showcase they go about their roles without much ado.
Nandha Kumar’s cinematography is good. K Krishna Kumar’s background score is an asset to the film. Akhil Prakash’s editing sticks to the director’s point of view. Dialogues are OK and direction average.
BAYAMARIYA BRAMMAI feels long drawn despite its short length..
